Ogi<\/a>, Wales’ leading domestic broadband provider has stepped up its commitment to bringing ultra-fast gigabit-capable connectivity to communities across Wales. 38 of the country’s most iconic towns and villages will now benefit from the latest phase of Ogis’ initial \u20ac200 million investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ogi launched just over a year ago and has started work on its 200 million plan to bring full fibre connectivity to traditional underserved communities. With this latest milestone in Ogis’ growth, the company is accelerating its ambitious program that spans 80,000 locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ogis’ efforts to improve broadband access come as Senedd’s Climate Change, Environment, and Infrastructure Committee urges the Welsh Government to do so. In fact, today’s announcement puts Ogi on track to bring fibre to a third of all buildings in Pembrokeshire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond rural settings, Ogi’s latest launch extends its footprint to larger, post-industrial urban areas such as Bridgend, Caerphilly and Rhondda Cynon Taf. And with the company’s work bringing in around \u00a36million to places like Haverfordwest, plus an estimated economic impact worth up to five times the initial investment, it will bring a welcome boost to local economies across the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Only 1 in 3 buildings in Wales currently has access to full fibre, with the UK generally lagging behind many European countries where coverage can be as high as 90%. Ogis’ latest plan will help close the UK’s digital divide in areas often described as left behind. Announcing the ramp-up, Ogis Chief Executive Officer Ben Allwright said: \u201cOgi is leading the digital revolution in Wales by bringing full fibre infrastructure to areas that really need it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Homes and businesses in many of these communities will be able to access Ogi\u2019s ultrafast service from as early as this September<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
