AltNet provider Aquiss is reducing the price of its broadband packages. The discounts will come into effect immediately, with some customers saving up to \u00a310 a month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It’s welcome news for people connected to the Aquiss network, as well as customers looking for alternatives to the more expensive \u2018big-name\u2019 providers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A recent survey by CommunityFibre and Perspectus Global found that up to 1 in 5 people are struggling to pay their monthly broadband bill. Over 1 in 3 of the 1,500 people surveyed admitted they would consider cutting back on other essentials (including food and fuel) to pay for internet at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“With so many people struggling with the cost of living right now, we’re determined to help our customers keep control of their household budgets,” said a spokesperson for Aquiss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rocio Concha, Director of Policy and Advocacy at Which?, thinks that more firms should follow Aquiss’s lead:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“It is unacceptable that broadband providers aren’t doing more [for] to customers. During a cost of living crisis, broadband providers must support the most financially vulnerable with discounted deals.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The savings apply to Aquiss’ unlimited full-fibre family packages, with max speeds of 1GB. Eligible and new customers will continue to benefit from a pre-existing discount that reduces the price of each package by 50% for the first three months of service. That puts an extra \u00a3200 into some customers’ pockets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
