The largest public sector broadband project in Wales, supplied and funded by the UK Government, has been completed, meaning over 600 public buildings including hospitals, police stations and libraries are now connected to full fiber broadband. out is part of the UK Governments strategy, announced last year, to improve connectivity across Wales. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hundreds of faster broadband upgrades across Wales have been funded to put public services into the digital fast lane so they can deliver more for communities. This comes on top of our 5 billion gigabit project which will bring better broadband connections to tens of thousands of rural homes and businesses across Wales and the UK that would otherwise be left behind. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The scheme, which was funded by a UK government investment of \u00a311.5million, comes after a survey found that more than 50 per cent of rural respondents felt that the internet they had access to not fast and reliable and NFU Cymru among others. It found that 66 percent in rural areas said they were affected by poor broadband connectivity, with only 36 percent having super-fast broadband, compared to 67 percent in urban areas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire were highlighted as particularly poor areas. Simon Hart, Secretary of State for Wales, said: “This is a significant step that will make life easier for so many people in Wales. Every day more and more public services are delivered online. The UK Governments \u00a311.5million investment in improving connectivity means the public will have better access to these services, which will be faster and more efficient.
